Museum of Modern Photography
Welcome . . .
Founded in 1993, the MUSEUM OF MODERN PHOTOGRAPHY was the first museum on the West Coast to establish a virtual museum website. From the outset, the museum has focused on American photography from the 1930s to today, and we continue to exhibit and collect work by both modern masters and younger, less-established photographers. We welcome you to enjoy the work presented here and the discoveries to come.

The works of prominent photographers, as well as local master photographers, are represented in the museum’s collection. The museum seeks also to nurture the talent of promising young, local, unestablished photographers who will shape the future of the art of modern photography. Through its permanent and traveling exhibitions and professional symposiums and panel discussions, the museum is demonstrating the importance of photography in modern history — enhancing the cultural needs and aspirations of the community and the country.
